The Lost Dr. Seuss Poem … I Love My Job, I Do, I Do
I love my job; I love the pay.
I love it more and more each day.
I love my boss; she (Carol) is the best.
I love her boss (Gabby) and all the rest …
I love this work; I love these chores.
I love the meetings with deadly bores.
I love my job – I’ll say it again.
I even love these friendly men.
The men who’ve come to visit today
In lovely white coats to take me away.
This month we are celebrating our 15th business anniversary. What started out in a tiny home office is now a well-respected and credible publication still being produced in a tiny home office. (What can I say, Carol abhors change! But I really think I deserve a new chair.) In our first issue of South Florida Hospital News — July 2004 —we promised to provide positive information about the individuals and organizations which make our industry second to none in the nation and still growing. And as we grew, we added “& Healthcare Report” to our masthead to make sure everyone understood we served the entire continuum of care, from physician practices and home care specialties to clinics and major healthcare facilities, not to mention all the crucial ancillary services (legal, financial, education, architecture, construction, etc.) which provides support to all of us.
Nevertheless, it has been quite the journey to get where we are now. We have had to take the good with the bad at times of great change in our industry. And in weathering the storm (or should I say hurricanes), we have learned a lot about our readership … that they are loyal, intelligent, inquisitive, and most importantly flexible enough to accept change where warranted and positive. Never was this more evident, than the great reception received by our latest addition to the newspaper, Cannabis News Florida (CNF) in 2016. Yes, though some in our healthcare community remain skeptical about the benefits of medical cannabis, they still believe and understand the importance of having the information to better inform their decisions. So, what started as a two-page update has rapidly grown into its own publication — well-respected, informative, with a statewide distribution. In a large part, thanks to another staff addition, Andrew Felix.
All in all, Carol and I believe we have managed to remain true to our core standard to disseminate industry information and developments in a non-threatening, supportive environment. But most important, we’ve tried to be responsive to all our readers, providing assistance, support and a helping hand to the entire healthcare community. Moreover, we have made innumerable acquaintances which have led to close partnerships and longstanding friendships. So, let us thank all our colleagues at SFHN&HR, CNF, our business partners, family and friends for their valuable support and cooperation over the years. Remember, we are ALWAYS just a phone call away.
