“No one goes there nowadays, it’s too crowded.” - Yogi Berra

As many of you already know, I am a big Yankees and Yogi Berra fan. Heck, it’s what I grew up with back in Brooklyn. Having been born in the early 50s, I was too young to bond with the Brooklyn Dodgers before they deserted for Los Angeles — and the Mets just never had much of an impact in our house. So Yogi was often quoted in our house … and consequently, he always seemed to make sense to me.
So our 2017 resolution borrows from Yogi’s idea — let’s all stop assuming “someone” else will lend that extra hand up or take care of that annoying problem. No grand gestures needed … corral that renegade shopping cart in the Publix lot; let in the driver who waits until the last minute to find his way OUT of the Express Lane on 95. First (and selfishly), your car may not get dinged while parked and secondly, you may avoid that wreck that ties up morning traffic for hours (not to mention injury.)
And I personally have to say, some of it is just being more aware of other people’s circumstances. As the years go by, all of our needs change. Being more cognizant of what that might mean for our families, friends and neighbors goes a long way to helping our community as a whole. (Trust me, 2016 was a sobering experience in the Felix household. We may be getting better, but we’re definitely not getting younger. My back and a full box of copy paper definitely do not mix!)
And while I’m on the subject, please don’t assume all of our great advertisers and supporters don’t need you as their client, or patient, or advocate. In the end, they’re the ones that make South Florida Hospital News & Healthcare Report possible each and every month. Please tell them Yogi and Charles sent you!
