Forum President-Elect Receives 2006 Jessie Trice Outstanding Leadership Award

Henry Thompson, CHE, CPPO, C.P.M., vice president, corporate affairs, Economic Opportunity Family Health Center, Inc., Miami, was the recipient of the 2006 Jessie Trice Outstanding Leadership Award presented by the Florida Association of Community Health Centers, Inc. The award is named in memory of and dedicated to Jessie C. Trice (1929-1999), former President and CEO of Economic Opportunity Family Health Center, Inc. from 1980-1998.

The award recognizes an individual, organization or board member for their outstanding leadership contribution(s) and who exemplifies visionary leadership in the local, regional, state, or national health center movement, challenges the status quo to create new programs and services to meet the changing health care environment and collaborates to eliminate racial and ethnic disparities in health outcomes.

Board certified in healthcare management and a Diplomate of the American College of Healthcare Executives, Henry received his Master's degrees in Liberal Studies and Public Administration from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL and Bachelorís degree from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT.

He is active in the community and serves on the board of the Urban League of Greater Miami, Inc., Barry University School of Natural and Health Sciences Advisory Council, and Health Council of South Florida, Inc., Information, Planning, Policy, and Ethics Committee. Henry will be installed as the 2007 President of the Board of Directors of the South Florida Healthcare Executive Forum, Inc., a chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
