Baptist Health SF Primary Care Focus Symposium a Success

More than 200 healthcare professionals attended the Baptist Health South Florida 15th Annual Primary Care Focus Symposium at the Marriott Marco Island Resort this past June 24-26.

The symposium focused on current evidenced-based topics that busy primary care physicians encounter every day in their clinical practice. Experts presented topics on regenerative medicine therapies, new clinical trials supporting the Mediterranean diet, adult treatment for ADHD, better ways to recognize biomarkers to assess cardiovascular disease and counseling pregnant women concerned with Zika virus, just to name a few.

The target audience included physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and pharmacists, as well as healthcare professionals interested in primary care medicine. Attendees come from around Florida, neighboring states and across the country to attend this annual event. Many of the attendees return year after year to enjoy the luxury resort and relaxed educational format – both of which help create a memorable symposium.

The pharmacists in attendance were very impressed with the amount of research presented on both pain management for migraine sufferers and the dangers of long-term opioid therapy for chronic pain sufferers, which for those in the profession, has become a daunting day-to-day challenge.
First time attendees were equally as impressed with the quality of the faculty and the evidence-based topics presented – so much so that they plan to return in 2017.
